Medina United Methodist Church | AODK :: Architecture Office :: David Krebs

The project is a new church facility on a heavily wooded 42 acre site. The project includes a 650 seat sanctuary, youth center with 100 seat performance space and caf lounge area, 6000 S.F. gallery space, caf, child and adult class rooms and office space. Also included is a warming kitchen, a 130 person banquet hall, and a three classroom pre-school with large indoor activity space. The goal was to provide a long established church congregation with a new home that will serve their evolving ministry. The solution will organize their new building around a central gathering space that creates a connection between the interior and the beautiful natural surroundings of the site. The main entry of the building opens directly into a large gallery space running along the edge of an existing pond and leading to the caf. The large glass exterior wall of the gallery creates views across the pond into the woods beyond. The back wall of the sanctuary also incorporates glass walls allowing views through the gallery to the tree line beyond. Every major program space is visible upon walking in thru the main front entry.
