Wood Lake #2 | AODK :: Architecture Office :: David Krebs

PROJECT::
3,600 s.f. single family residence on a sloping lake front property. This contemporary home includes a spacious open floor plan providing the main floor living space with lake views and a central staircase from the basement up to the second floor bedrooms.

GOAL::
Create a contemporary residence that would take full advantage of the lake front views and incorporate passive heating and cooling principles as well as green technology to achieve a highly efficient home with first class comfort.

SOLUTION::
The home is designed to take advantage of the sloped property with a walk out basement, main floor views of the lake and large patio, as well as a master suite with unobstructed lake views and a walk out deck. The main living space is versatile that it can appropriately accommodate a quiet evening by the fire or a large gathering with a vaulted great room and spectacular views. A geo-thermal heating and cooling system with radiant heat floors greatly benefit the utility costs and impact on the environment. Large overhangs give shade from the summer sun yet allow the sun to provide warmth in the winter. A modular green roof system help to insulated the home and reduce storm water run-off.
